Maxising the value of your NDIS Plan

  1. The first was to express a vision of where his life should be in a future.  I did this under a set of headings that were relevant to my son.
    • Community involvement
    • Learning
    • Staying active
    • How and where he lives
    • Who safeguards his life
  2. With this vision firmly in mind, I then expressed a set of goals that were reflected in his NDIS Plan.  Some of these goals were short term, some were longer term. I made sure these goals covered both what was important for my son, and what was important to my son.  Understanding the important for/to distinction↗ was essential to making the NDIS Plan truly valuable to my son.
  3. The third step involved setting out achievable sub-goals that lead to realising my son’s goals (and vision!).  This included:
    • Working through the categories of funding in my son’s NDIS plan to prioritise the supports needed and actions to be taken.
    • Building a financial budget tracking tool that enabled me to maintain a focus on the use of the available funds to achieve my son’s goals.
